NYC INFERNO X RAW MEAT
Saturday, September 21st, 10PM - 4AM
Live Performance by The Uhuruverse

Details From Inferno: From the start of NYC INFERNO, Quinn and RMC have supported the party in countless ways, including running our photo booth, designing our logo and publishing the first issue of the NYC INFERNO zine. This month, during the weekend of the annual NY Art Book Fair (9/20-22), we're throwing Raw Meat a dark and sexy celebration! There'll be a new basement installation, the brand new second issue of the NYC INFERNO zine available for purchase, and a very special midnight performance from THE UHURUVERSE, the incredible queer non-binary musician and performance artist behind the brilliant, urgent new LP WHO KILLED KENISHA? which was released in February.

Sign up for address and more information HERE.

NYC INFERNO ISSUE #2 covers our infamous 2017 FUCK E. CHEESE party which skewered the famous party restaurants like Showbiz Pizza and Chuck E. Cheese from the 80s and 90s. For one night we turned our playspace into a dirty pizza pavilion complete with ball pit, ventriloquists, voguing rodents, competitive pizza eating and a bunch of sex. This 48-page zine features never-before-seen photos taken in the party's "Blue Ball Pit" by photographer Zak Krevitt and cheeky, sexy and poignant remembrances from the evening's participants, including DJ James Cerne, Butt Midler and Octavia Leona Kohner and more. Designed by frequent NYC INFERNO flyer designer Mikey Harmon, the INFERNO zine will be on sale at Raw Meat Collective's table at the NY Art Book Fair at MOMA PS1 (9/20-22) and at NYC INFERNO x RAW MEAT on 9/21. Plus pick up RAW MEAT COLLECTIVE's new zine, LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH! & other titles too.

Printed Matter was kind enough to ask us to host a Classroom Event this year on Saturday 9/21 from 7 - 8pm. Kyle Quinn, of Raw Meat Collective, will lead a panel discussion on “Punks in Press” and discuss what it means to be punk in our current climate. Below is more information about the panel.

Punk’s in Press, with Raw Meat Collective, #BlkGrlsWurld ZINE, Heinzfeller Nileisist, Irrelevant Press, and Pegacorn Press

Background: Publisher and artist Kyle Quinn presents a panel discussion on what it means to be punk and publish within our current climate and generation. Coming from a queer counter-culture and punk background, Quinn started Raw Meat Collective as a way to push artistic boundaries in print and art without censorship. Quinn invites New York publishers to discuss what punk is today, if punk is still alive, and how we push boundaries in our varied fields of print. The discussion will include topics of process, how artistic practices shift, and how we stay motivated in publishing. Publishers will be asked about the challenges they face within print, the future of punk, and their major influences along the way. Presented by Raw Meat Collective.

Gallery 102 Exhibition

We’re pleased to be included in the exhibition, From the Margins, at Gallery 102 in Washington, D.C. We have a selection of books on view and you can learn more about the exhibition below. Visit Gallery 102 for upcoming performances to be announced.

September 16 - November 15, 2019

Opening Reception: Friday September 20, 2019 // 6:00-8:00 pm (free and open to the public)

"From the Margins, opening Monday September 16 at Gallery 102, is a pivot away from the mythos of Mapplethorpe towards a notion of critique as care. Rooted in Glenn Ligon's response to Mapplethorpe's work, entitled Notes On the Margin of the Black Book, the exhibition frames critique as a method of opening up space, rather than foreclosing it. The artists on view, much like Ligon's 1992 work, wedge open the potential for critique to provide a more expansive field. The exhibition features 16 artists, a resource library, and a fully illustrated catalogue with over 10 contributors."
