RAW MEAT is an independent publishing house based in Brooklyn, NY created, designed and established in 2015 by artist Kyle Quinn who continues running the collective. We work with a wide range of established and aspiring contemporary fine artists in various mediums including but not limited to photography, painting, sculpture, and collage. While we publish primarily artist books, we also publish photography editions, exhibition catalogues for independent artists and galleries, as well as a vast array of fine art ephemera.
Our mission is to create space for and amplify the voices of LGBTQ+ & Femme contemporary artists through documentation of their work by crafting visually stunning editions that also highlight, through a Romantic lens, concepts of sorrow and sadness, identity political struggles, queer history, and queer subversion. We want to present the work of the artists we partner with in a way that foments a dialogue with the audience and makes them rethink preconceived notions of happiness, community, and sexuality.
Our vision is to provide a platform and energy to projects that might go unpublished, that most shy away from because of their rawness and vulnerability. These are productions that deserve an audience who will absorb their power and beauty. We strive to create books that motivate the current queer generation, the students, the teachers and the people to make new art unabashedly and unafraid.
We have years of experience working with universities, museums, artist fairs, galleries and curators from all over the world. Please reach out to collaborate on future projects. Please see some of collections and press below.
We are currently not taking artist submissions.
Please read our I-D / Vice Magazine interview to learn more on how we started.
